Singapore Expats

Hi,

After getting some spam snail mail about a software called Tradepac or something like this a couple of days ago (thrown away already) I spent some time to browse through available accounting software packages today. Looks like a huge market and big money in there .

Before wasting more time, could someone recommend a customized good package for Singapore which is useful and productive and has possibly a demo to try out? And of course doesn't cost as much as a new car here

Probably the best for a small or new business is MYOB. It's easy enough for anyone even without accounting backgrounds. It's real time and very user friendly. I use a stand-alone version (single user) for my online company and my Employer uses a server based one for multiple user and more that just the accounting package. If you want more info just check out MYOB. The package is localized for the Singapore market.

Another would be ACCPAC.

SAA (Singapore Accountancy Academy --- ICPAS) do run courses designed to introduce basic accounting concepts and skills to set up a computerized accounting system using ACCPAC's Simply Accounting Software.

Have not used this before.
But it seemed a lot of small and medium companies were a few years ago when I was looking.

GNUCash is unbeatable pricewise -- it costs nothing. I find it quite adequate for my needs, but learning curve is a little steeper than some of the competition.

Peachtree also has a fairly good rep.

Found another one in the open source space. Turbocash. (http://www.turbocashuk.com). Looks promising, but I did not manage to get the latest beta to run. I'll try again with the last stable version.
