Internet connectivity in singapore

I would like to know the cheapest internet connectivity in singapore & also what is the cost of broadband connectivity of star hub. pls. get back to me on this. thanks

I will soon be there. I would like to know about fiber optic broad band. Is it reliable? & cost effectiviness. Also, is it possible to buy the modem for it? Or do they only allow you to rent?

There is no fiber-optic broadband here available to residential users. You'd need to be a very large, very rich corporation. You only get Cable or DSL.
When you get the plans, you normally get the modem for free. Check the plan descriptions in those links.

Thanks! I had seen them before, but thought that 30Mghz download was fiber optic. Looks great for cable though.
Are the prices in S$ or US$? Eitherway, they are reasonable in price.

A little clarification I think is in order. The advertised download speeds that the local ISP's advertise are only for last mile sites, e.g., those connected to the local backbone. Overseas sites are still limited by the international linkages. Downloads cannot move faster than the originating sites output.

Depends on where you are from - reasonable or not.
In Indonesia, 256kbps will cost the same as the 30Mbps here. In Korea, 100Mbps will cost much less than 30Mbps here.

OK, I'll bite that - how is singnet better? My simple benchmarking shows that for most areas (okay, I don't test every possible place in Singapore, but I do test in some different area from east to west) the cable connection gives superior d/l speed compared to the adsl AT SIMILAR COST LEVEL (meaning, not at similarly rating connection since, if it is rated higher at same cost then of course most will take the higher rated at same cost, right?).
I don't claim the other provider(s) are better, but to just claim so generally that one is better than the others is oversimplification. Especially that bs about "dedicated" line and such crap. Nothing is dedicated unless you lease your own line right?
