Singapore Expats

Hi there - we are moving to singapore in a month and I'm trying to work oyt what to bring. We are not getting any assistance with shipping so it's all our own cost - but is it worth paying to ship beds, couch, crockery etc? We have free storage so leaving it behind is no problem.

but I heard the choice is limited up there? Is that right? Any advice on what I should bring with us and what is easy and cheap to get in Singapore would be appreciated.

We will be there for 3 years.

Leave all those things you mentioned behind. Things are very cheap in Singapore, especially crockery, bedlinens, sheets and things for everyday use.

You have IKEA which has everything you need. Shopping malls also offer household items at affordable prices.

You'll probably be wasting more money shipping them over.

If you are thinking of bringing anything at all apart from clothes etc. I would suggest checking with a moving company first.

You may find they have a minimum charge and so you could see what you could bring in with that in mind. Then buy the rest here.

Agree with previous, wise responses. Everything is available here and more. If I may make a suggestion that if you are a 'special' size (large bum, big feet, big boobs--no offense meant)you may want to stock up on some of those items which are difficult to locate here. If you are stick thin, small feet, and like padded bras, you will fit right in here.
