Where can I get good authentic Mexican food?? I've been to two restaurants and I don't understand why they use white rice instead of Spanish rice! It's frustrating! If anyone out there (especially Californians cuz we know our mexican food!) has been to a good mexican place, let me know! I'm craving some good down-home mexican grub!

what's Spanish rice? a short grain variety? when I was in Guatemala I was taught to fry the raw rice grain in oil before boiling it in water or stock; is that Spanish rice?

Why you say Spanish rice...do you mean that as in Paella, definetively that is not Mexican!!!

If you want a nice place to try, theres "Cafe La Mexicana" it's on that alley between Centerpoint and OG in Orchard. It's the best Mexican food I've had in here.

If you like more Tex-Mex type of food Café Iguana across Clarke Quay is a good option.

Options not mentioned include Margaritas (east & west coast), Cha Cha Cha (Holland Village), and a place whose name I can't remember but it's located in the Orchard Hotel. Whether any of those sell what you refer to as Spanish Rice, no idea. Good luck!

Oh, were you referring to Chico's and Charlie's? Please note that they are at Orchard Parade Hotel, which is situated across the road from Orchard Hotel.

In california, the rice is cooked in tomato broth so it's very flavorful. Maybe it's not really a mexican thing, more of a californian thing. It's not paella, it's just plain rice cooked in tomato broth.

Just order tomato rice from the Indian stall - very flavourful also. Served with deep fried chilli chicken or fish. Yummy

I know what rice you mean...Red Rice is what I call it. You will definetively have that on Cafe La Mexicana in Orchard. Not as tasty as the one back home but it's quite good.

dude,.. i miss those greasy steak burritos back in cali too.. like i used to have for bfast.. on a drive thru local mexican restaurant.. OMG i miss SOCAL !!

Heck Yeah! I miss those cheap greasy burritos too. I'd settle for faux Mexican food from Baja Fresh right now!

I think the restaurants here do have ready-made burritos, but they won't be the same as the ones you find in a little taco shack for sure. They mexican places are too upscale here, so the burritos will be little, there won't be a selection of salsas and they won't give you all-you-can-eat tortilla chips! Sorry!!

i know huh.. i havent found any cheap greasy burritos like the one king taco has.. it fills u up good. with the rice n steak in it.. OMG where is baja fresh anyway in singapore.. seems havent seen one here??

There's no Baja Fresh in Singapore. The only Mexican fast food place is Taco Bell.

Someone should franchise Baja Fresh, Jamba Juice, In & Out and Whole Foods here! Then we'll be all set!!! They should all be on the same street and we can call it "Little Hollywood" or something.
