Hi!

New in Singapore and would like to try a sport that I have never done before - some martial arts form - don't know which yet. Does anyone have a martial arts place to recommend or maybe a suggestion for which martial art form for a newbie?

Thanks!
Maria

hey,

depends on what kind or martial arts are you looking at.
i've always been interested in capoeira - the brazilian martial arts, but still contemplating to sign up due to the schedule.
if you're interested - go to the substation, they have the class there every sat (4 pm) and sun (3 pm)

the other place for this is bantus (if i remember correctly) at the american club (not sure if i get the place name right, orchard there)

have fun!!

:)

would you like to try chinese kickboxing ?

it's a very good self defense but not for the faint hearted i know a good place to train i'm a student hence they don't charge me any fee but i think the fee is not important to them as long as you are interested in the art.

PM me if you are interested i will be happy to introduce you to this sport :D

Is that the same as Wushu? Heard training is painful... is that correct?

It's a combat martial art which consist of boxing, kicking and throwing.

Some people train just for the fun of it but some wants to enter the ring to fight it out so it all depends on you, if you don't wish to injure yourself in a fight you may of course take this sport just for the fun and benefit of it.

training is something like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYlULbyC ... h=san%20da

expect in the ring the fighters are padded for extra protect as such competition without padding is not really allowing locally.
