Singapore Expats

Hi all,
I hope I'm posting in the right place. For a hobby, I thought it would be fun to study Mandarin in my spare time because it would be good for understanding more of Singaporean Chinese culture, and good for traveling. Anyone have any suggestions?

If anyone has any experience with any schools that aren't too expensive let me know. That thread doesn't have any actual reviews of schools.

Have you considered using Pimsleur......

Ever consider looking for a private Chinese tutor? For school, I must say NUS Extension seems good but a little expensive.

Hi, I have a friend who teaches Mandarin, he is from mainland China and has been studying in Singapore for six years. He is a part time table tennis coach too.......if you are interested, feel free to call him at 92225029.

You might want to look it up in the yellow pages or some other directory. I took lessons at this language learning center called "Tianlong" at International Plaza near Shenton Way. Its located on the 19th floor the building and I think I paid $220 for 10 lessons. Pretty good level of instruction , but they make you buy their textbooks.

im also interested in learning mandaring..
have done a basic though.. did it from singapore chinese chamber at hill street..
a little expensive but was good
they r very irregular between the diff semesters depending on if they get enough students or not..
pls do let me know of any classes

I'm a chinese from China...I think it would be pretty interesting to teach ppl a language...i did part-time as a priate tutor on math in univeristy and also on mandarin tuition for a short period ...I do think i make it a good teacher..

if you wanna a formal and professional mandarin class, sign up those language school or nus courses..if you just wanna practise with some native speaker...u can PM me..
