Singapore Expats

Hi, im a teacher by profession..tryin my luck here in singapore..its almost 2 months but still i dont have a job..i already applied to MOE if i can secure a teaching career..they denied me..not telling reasons why...so, my usual day of looking for a job is getting newspaper and online application and some walk in interviews..i even went to a job fair...and fill up alot of application forms..but still to no avail...it seems hopeless..but i would love to settle down here...i have an admin/secretarial experience and a year of outdoor sales...i am looking for a thread b4 here about a girl looking also for a job but i cant find it...i think accounting course cya..any filipino..pls let me know my next move...i dnt want to giv up here...any comment or suggestion would be gladly appreciated....my email add is [email protected]..

Your problem is that you have no special degree or skills that cannot be found in the local populace. If someone hires you and tries to apply for a work permit with the MoM, they will deny the permit because you have no special skills.

How many years have you taught? What subjects? What are your degrees? PhD?

admin/secretarial is nothing special here, and for outdoor sales you have hundreds of Polytechnic students.

Also, it's usually a better idea to apply from abroad rather than burning up all your money here.

hi bremen, aside from admin and sales experiences, im a teacher by profession..i used to teach Computer education and in the academe for six years..a technical teacher by profession and a well rounded person in terms of basic subject matter of primary and secondary level like english, math, social science and others. also acquainted with human formation and used to give team building to the academe and corporate world...if there any referals..hope u inform me..thanks...any agency u can refer or agent? hope some help from there..thanks again...

You will not get anywhere through agents.

Again, what are your qualifications? Do you have a master's degree in IT? A Phd? THAT'S what will make you attractive to the local schools. English, math, social sciences, etc, all pointless to mention them if you don't have the certifications to prove it.

Yup.got a masteral units in Educational Administration from University of the Philippines..sorry, but its not only certifications and level of studies that make you land a job here...not at all..it could be..but not at all...i've known a friend here...supervisor now of one of their company department..he didnt have any special education or what so ever...but he manage to climb the ladder of success because he believed he could...and loook at him right now....dont wori, il get some help from others who are willing to encourage rather than dumpen one's spirit..thanks but no thanks bremen..Godbless you bro!

Does Singapore recognize this? Here in the UK degrees obtained from Philippine Universities are not recognized. I don't wish to be discouraging but I think this may be the same in Singapore. Hopefully somebody with more local knowledge than me will be able to tell you.

Yup..got a work since last August in the Academe field...
Was able to make my wife and my daughter come here last december to be with me in singapore...thanks for the curiosity...Godbless...

Why on earth would you want to "MAKE" your wife and daughter come here? Didn't they want to come?

If they did want to come then I hope your degrees aren't in English, as they have enough problems here with that already.

the problem with most of people here is they think they're standing on a high ground just because they speak in "slang"...so oblivious that they never realize they're just a fly standing on a carabao.

So very full of yourself. What was the Typographical error? It looked more like just plain improper English to me. I'm not trying to get down on you. You stated you were a teacher! I though teachers liked to constantly keep learning and knowing that you were not a Native Speaker it could have been an honest mistake. Nobody is trying to stand on high ground except you. Oh yes, what slang? Anyway, "made" typed "mead" or "amde" are typographical errors. Using "made" was an incorrect choice of words. Your pride has now earned you some........
