Hi All..

Im new to Singapore.. and on Dependant Pass.
I have been offered a position of Business Analyst at M1.
Could anybody tell me about the company. I know its a big name in Singapore. But I want to know about the culture of company and idea of work timing (if anybody has any idea)

Also, with 2 years of work experience is $3300 p.m a good enough salary?

Haven't worked there myself, but like most Singaporean telcos they seem to work hard and with pretty long hours. Then again, all the people I know there are still staying there, so they must be doing something right...

Your salary sounds like it's roughly in the ballpark -- not amazing, but definitely more than they'd pay an unexperienced fresh college grad.

The salary is not bad. Our pay structure is similar:

Year 1 - 2,000 - 2,200
Year 2 - 2,200 - 2,400
Year 3 - 3,200 - 3,400
Year 4 - 3,600 - 3,800
Year 5 - 4,400 - 4,600

I also see this kind of pay structure across a number of finance jobs. Probably a bit more in banks though.

If you are single, 3300 would be quite nice. If you are married, you will be able to live comfortably, but its best to have your spouse contribute to make it much better. Saying that I dont mean that 3300 will put you in doghouse. I can split your costs in this manner

1. House (Shared if you are single): 400-600 in a HDB 500-900 in a condo depending on location.
2. Transport (Public): 100$ a month (avg of 3.40 a day may be a bit higher if you live in the edges like Pasir Ris or Boon Lay)
3. Food (self cook) groceries: 150$ for dinner, sat/sun lunch.
4. Lunch/Bfast etc: 250$
5. Entertainment (booze, clubs etc.): Optional but then if you dont have any sort of entertainment, you are BORED to death: 200 a month
6. Misc: 250
7. Mobile: Since you are with M1, they will provide one for free. Only pay for overseas calls for which you can use skype or something like that.

The above is a very very very conservative estimate providing you dont go beserk in spending.

I just wanted this info to get an idea of salary structure... also pleeez can anyone find out and tell me about how good is M1 to work for?

I've been here since past 3 months and M1 is the only company which has approached me.. not getting any other interview calls..

Totally disagree with the comment above. The OP clearly said 2 years experience.

The position is a pretty basic job and $3,300 is totally in-line with the local market. We are not talking about someone being transferred here with tons of skills not available in Singapore.

Ringo, I tend to agree with you and if anything I'd say given the market saturation it may well be slightly higher that the norm with the same tenure and education. 2 years really isn't that much experience.

R&L, how much are most 2 years experience greenies getting in your opinion? We're only talking about 2 years work experience. Just saying it suxs doesn't help. Did you misread OP's original post? OP is not an SA.

business analysts jobs? is that more towards finance side or towards market quantitative analyzing?is that easy for auditors to transit into this line?

I am relocating to Singapore shortly on a DP too.. I heard that DPs can't work in SG! How did you get this job? Do you have a Letter of Consent?

Yes, i did finally find a job though not the one I was enquiring about in this post (ie M1)..yesp, its tuff to get a job on DP, but it not impossible.. u have to keep trying n trying.. n it'll b good to use contact, if any
