Singapore Expats

Can anyone tell me anything they know about getting common-law spouse status in Singapore.

I heard some people are in Singapore on the common-law spouse visa (dependents? long-term visit?) but i have absolutely no idea what we have to do, how we get it, where we get it.....

If anyone knows ANYTHING about it, basically how, where, when, who, why, I would appreciate it, thanks!

Sorry, really can’t help you in this matter. I knew few friends in NOKIA are under this common -law couple. But I knew that their spouses is under dependent pass too. Good luck on your finding and please share once you find the answer. I’m sure lot of people here looking forward to the answer.

We had to get a letter from the British Embassy stating that we had lived together in the UK as common law spouses, we took that to a solicitor here in Singapore and they produced the same kind of letter for $200 I think it was. This was then submitted to MOM with the LTSVP application. The LTSVP doesnt allow your other half to work though......

Did you get the letter easily from your embassy, or must you bring some evidents of you two staying together in UK? I am a Sing PR and my boyfriend's EPEC has just got rejected, I would like to start thinking to get him the LTSVP by getting this common law letter. But confused either I do this in Germany (where we are in now) or in Singapore (when we move in Nov).. I would also try to ask my employer if they can apply for this LTSVP for my partner, i hope its a fair thing to ask for their help..

Im actually residing on a LTSVP. This was sponsered by my partners company. As I said on a previous thread, all we did was have a notary come round to the house and we signed a statutory declaration to say we were living together as man and wife for x amount of time. This was then forward with the relevent application forms and my LTSVP was granted a day later.
We didnt need to go to an embassy or provide any evidence.
I cant say whether this is the same for every application, but this is my experience.

I am in pretty much the same situation - althought it is my partner who has got the job.

I understand with the LTSVP I can't work?

Someone did mention something about being able to get a dependant visa based on a de-facto relationship and this is something I am hunting to get the answers to. I want and need to work!!
