Dear MBA's
Intend to plan something for diwali something big ....something from 19th to 23rd...most probably a big outing overseas or within singapore...let me know if any ideas? also intend to have a diwali party somewhere between 19th to 23rd.

Seems like a gr888 idea! But I wonder how many desi's will be in Singapore during that time. But yaho jo hai unke liye why not plan a good dinner somewhere in Singapore? BTW, we can also have a potluck party... As most Indian eating places in Singapore haven't really been upto my liking (Thats strictly my opinion)..

What say? Think about it..

great to hear from u...aap to achanak gayab ho gaye forum se! Thanks for ur good suggestion.
I spoke to a few members on the phone and some of the options are:
1. Have a diwali party either at my place( we cater food from outside) or we have it outside where we can book a place and have a cool/mast time.
2. We go out for an overnight outing at the neighbouring islands....that is only if we have a good size of people who r interested.
3. keep a day event in singapore. Fari ur potluck could be added to the day event. Just a minor glitch with the potluck, a few of our members r singles here and though they are quite enthu about the outing ......may/maynot be able to participate in the pot luck...not a problem! i will volunteer to make on their behalf.
4. There are a few organisations who hoist diwali parties, usually adds r stuck near raffles/serangoon road area, we could go there.
5. We could go out for a boat ride in singapore to Kusu Island . Its $35/head, Mustafa travels has the details as they arrange it. I dont have much info on this....will have to call Mustafa Travel on this.

I already know a few people on the forum and am waiting to make new freinds. I would love to be a part of the Diwali party. I think chilling at some ones place also is a very good idea. That way everyone gets to know each other better.

Yep potluck may not sound tooo exciting to everyone, but lets not make it a compul;sion to carry home cooked food. Infact we can plan our contributions in advance, so that there is no wastage. Some one can get tidbits, some one soft drinks and the nmain course can be decided voluntarily. We have done quite a few potlucks back in India. Actually comes out as loads of fun..

BTW, a day event in Singapore also seems an inyteresting idea. Can we have a poll here in the forum for the next few days for all the options you have listed? We can close it on that

Ajit ,have you been to Kusu Island.... from the feedback that I gathered there is nothing there except a chinese temple and a malay tomb.Also, people go there for prayers.. i dunno if it will be offensive to the islanders if we hold a party there.

thanks for sharing ur concern, ur rite.....we r not going to kusu island for a party! I ve been to kusu island and aware about the sacred shrine at the island. The boat ride has kusu ,amongst the various iternaries...The boat ride itself is supposed to be a party.....take care, have a good weekend.

still sounds a bit boring at this stage...i am searching for some diwali hungama parties etc.,...let me know if u come across one.
As for the diwali dinner, if we go to a restaurant, not much preparation needed, if we want to meet at one of our residences then we might a need a few days notice..lets see how it goes
