Singapore Expats

Hi,

I'll be moving to Sg in December I've been working in Bangkok until now and have an excellent nanny. I'd really like to bring her with me. I have checked out the MoM site and it says that it is relatively straight forward although I have to pay around 15,000Sg$ in Insurance and bonds etc.

Does any one know if there is a way around this? I'm not on a very high salary so it is out of the question for me to pay this. I would really like to find a way in which I could afford to bring her as she fits so well with my family.

Any advice appreciated.

yes there is a way,but you have to leave her behind first in bangkok.
once you settle down in singapore,you than apply for her to come to
singapore to work as a maid.
you can get a maid agency to do it or you can apply directly om mom
website.
remember this there is always a fee to pay,but not the amounts that you
had mentioned.

We brought our helper from HK to Singapore and it did not cost us that much. She came here first on a holiday visa, we sorted all the paperwork, then she went home on holidays and she came back here to work with us.

We did use an agency and we paid the fees, they organised the paperwork etc for us. It was fairly straightforward though and not as bad as some people make it out to be. Sorry I don't have the details fo the agency. Perhaps contact some of the maid agencies here to find out if they will do it for you?

You will have to pay a certain amount of money in fees and insurance tec no matter where your maid/nanny comes from. good luck.

I remember i gave you MOM link. The SGD15k bond is only a bond, which you have to purchace from financial/Insurance company.

It should be like this: SGD10K is for total of insurance coverage for the maid medical/Personal accident etc.. etc.. - the gross premiun is SGD120.75 inclusive GST(depending on which plan you are taking) meanwhile the SGD5k is the bond you need to pay to SG gov in cash. If you dont want to pay for the 5k bond you can buy a Insurance Guarantee from financial/insurance company instead! The policy cost very little actually.
