Singapore Expats

Hey there,

In just over a week my husband and I will be welcoming our first baby into our lives and home. We are obviously very excited.

My concern is the pollution levels we are currently experiencing in Singapore. The smoke is finding its way into our apartment in small doses regardless of the precautions we are taking.

Whilst this is ok for my husband and myself I am concerned this may be an issue for our newborn baby.

Does anyone have an answer as to how to improve this situation? Are air purifiers effective?

Hi - we have a nearly 5 month old who was born premature. The last couple of weeks he's been waking up in the night with his nose completely plugged and gasping for air. Just last night my husband brought home an air purifier and the baby slept through the night for the first time! Coincidence??

We had the thing on in the bedroom with all three of us and in the morning when I opened the bedroom door you could really smell the difference in air quality!

I would definitely get one!!

Approx. cost of one? Where do you find them?

Every shopping mall also hawks those little fishbowls that swish about soapy water, but I doubt they have impact on anything except your electricity bill.

'JackRabbit'...I am glad to hear that an air purifier worked for you and your baby. That is great news. Gives me a little more faith in them.

I would be interested to know what make and model you actually purchased...and how much it cost. That would give me a starting point seeing that you are so happy with the performance of it.
