Best ''social'' place to live in Singapore

We are living in Central, HK and moving to SG in January. We find very convenient having everything 2-5 mins walk and being closed to a expat ''friendly'' place.
Does same kind of area exist in SG (means having bars, restaurants, pubs, nightclubs, fitness center...) ?

Hi there
I live in Clarke Quay which is just about as central as you can get and a really great place to live, everything is minutes walk away, the main entertainment district, raffles place, chinatown etc so you would be hard pushed to find a nicer spot than this one!
Good luck with the house hunt!

district 9 techdav. Yes the area, robertson quay, clark quay then boat quay these areas are awesome
lots of restaurants bars , once you finish drinking, eatting, clubbing, you can walk home, save the hassles of getting a taxi ...
River VAlley /sommerset , orchard is close by.
that's also very happening.
