Can anyone please dont mind to use your precious time to explain to me what is and what is the different of " CAT5 and CAT6 " Lan Cables ?

Cat 5 is just a standard patch cable, cat 5 E is enhanced 350 Mhz and cat 6 is a high performance multimedia cable, I believe!

cat being short for "category"

CAT6 supports Gigabit (1000 Mbps) Ethernet, CAT5 does not. So if you have Gigabit ethernet cards, you will need CAT6 cable to obtain Gigabit bandwidth.

beg to differ , cat5e can do the trick of going up to gigabit , cat6 is relatively new and hugely expansive still..

according to cat website on the link above, it is not cost effective to use 5E becuase it is apparently pushing the limits, that's why cat 6 was introduced, and will most certainly be the standard. So it does actually make sense to go for cat6 if the network is being built for the future, or upgraded, especially for commercial or residential purposes, don't you think?
