quitting job/cancelling EP - implications

Just wondering, if a person quits their job and cancels their EP (which entitles you to a 14 day social visit stamp) does this have any implications on your apartment rental? Ie will/can the authorities notify the landlord? Also, is the 14 days visa from the date of leaving the job or from the date you cancel (ie you get 7 days to cancel)
Basically, my partner is considering leaving his job a month earlier than originally planned. We'd like to stay in singapore for 4-5 weeks longer (keeping the apartment) and do have a trip already planned so that would give us another short term visa. Is this feasible or is our landlord likely to kick us out?
Cheers
