Head hunter or not?

Hi,
I come to Singapore recently and have been in job search for nearly 2 months now.
I was thinking to use head hunter and sent my resume to them, but I never heard anything back from them.
I used to work in Jakarta, Indonesia and have a bachelor degree from the U.S.A university.
I wonder whether I should keep trying on head hunter or it is more effectively looking a job from the newspaper or online jobs market?
Also, would it be helpful to get ppl inside the company as a refferal ?
Thank you

tweety,
I don't want to rain on your parade but a headhunter would have absolutely no use for you at all. What can you bring to the table? A degree only. They're a dime a dozen. No relevant experience. Headhunters are only really after persons who are in demand. Unemployed people obviously aren't in demand. If they were, headhunters would be calling you to make offers. That's what headhunters do. They are not Employment Agencies (bodyshops).
At the moment you are probably going to have to set your sights lower and depend on recruitment agencies, leather-power & networking. If you don't have a network, then it may be time to start going to the seminars and talks and conventions that deal directly with the industry you are trying to penetrate. Internal recommendations are fine but hard to get as it's easy to get a bad name if you recommend someone and that person turns out to be a dud.
The degree is only a indication that you have the ability to learn. It does not make you a expert in your field. Only experience will give you that.
