Not really my field but no one else postign so I'll give you my view.
I think the market here for electronics and computers is alreayd pretty much saturated and wages are not very high unless you are extremely top end which I take it your not since you feel like you need more experience.
Anyone else care to add?

I believe that there is a demand for embedded system engineer, for which your skill in VHDL will be useful. However, as you have little prior experience, your salary scale may hover in the range of $2400 - $3000.
Why not try to apply for opening in singapore while you are in Aust. and see how is the respose liked?
