ISD is very pleased to announce the opening a new cabin crew base in Singapore later this year. This decision has been made based on the cost savings and high operational and service standards that we expect this base to achieve, in line with those of our existing bases.


Opening new bases is an excellent way for us to grow profitably by increasing productivity and reducing costs. Despite adding new bases, however, the majority of our future recruitment is still planned for Hong Kong and Hong Kong crew and in particular Hong Kong based SIN crew will continue to operate a substantial portion of Singapore flights.


We will be inviting applications for cabin crew in Singapore. Similar to our other bases, applications will be open to cabin crew from all bases worldwide and crew will be able to apply for positions one category higher than their current position – in other words this is a great promotional opportunity for those who can meet the criteria. In addition, we will be recruiting staff for the Singapore base office; a Base Executive and Base Co-ordinator. A Q&A will follow when we open applications for both the cabin crew and base office positions.

yep i m cx crew from HK, our cabin crew are from 11 asian countries.
we hv lots of malay crew now still flying in comany for sure

Wow, i'm so excited! I've always been so interested in joining CX but they don't seem to hire any Malaysians coz they need ppl with the right of abode in HK. So wat u think bout this time? Will I, as a Malaysian, stand a chancE? Where can i get more info about the requirements n stuff?

and do they hire ethnic races who are not able to speak mandarin or other dialects?

Hehe...i'm sure they do hire male crews. I think every airline does. But i'm quite certain CPA does have male crews coz i've seen them when i boarded Cathay.

I think its alright.
They are recruiting HK based Singapore crew.

Man, my friend will not be interested anymore. She likes Going HONGKONG but wants to be based in Singapore.


They are also opening their recruitment to their own crews who can't get promoted at their base..
Hmm...... Sounds abit funny isn't it?


I think this Ad is from a Hongkong source.

They're trying to tell the Hongkongers that benefits are still reserved for them & their ppl are still given top priority when they say

Lol! Yup, i think that was wat they are trying to convey too. It's basically to encourage existing crews in their worldwide bases to apply for this post. Plus, indeed this mail came from a HK source...its thru IntraCX which a web system created by Cathay to communicate to all its staff from all over the world.

I think its the other way round...Singapore based HK crews SO i guess ur fren would still be interested since it's gonna be Singapore based because the subject of the mail is also talking bout opening a new base in Singapore. The only worry is that they are only giving priorities to the Hongkies n not opening the opportunity to other nationalities

Hmm...i guess u gotta update me then coz i'm malaysian! Haha! So, no matter how interested i am...it might be a very slim chance i'm eligible to apply considering the fact that the new base is in singapore. Just hope they are looking for singapore AND malaysian residents
