My wife and I are relocating to Singapore in June of this year. She gets a relocation allowance to move some of our stuff over (including ourselves). In your experience, how much would it cost the transport articles such as clothes and some electronic items....?

Thanks

We will be moving over in July and we are currently looking into the same issue. The company will pay for 1,000lbs of personal belongings to air ship over , and they will pay to relocate our cat. The moving company that the employer uses will be coming out in May to look at what we are bringing and give us an estimate then.

If your company will pay to move you, then they probably have a contract with a moving company they use. You might want to ask how much they will move and who they recommend using.

Thanks for the advice. Where are you moving from in the UK?
Have you been successful in finding suitable apartments/condos as yet?

We are moving from the US, and will be coming over in May to look for housing. Waiting to see what school the kids get into (we applied to 2) before we pick where we live. Husband will be working in the Science Park area for work. Need to pick something in between school and his work.

Are you moving from the UK? or the US? Have you decided where you will live?

We are moving to Singapore at the end of May from Surrey and my company has agreed to pay for our removals costs up to £5k. The quotes we have had so far are all under that. Although insurance is extra.

We're only moving clothes as we're renting out our apartment over here fully furnished.

To be honest, as Manchester is generally cold year round, our clothes are not suitable for Singapore. We have 'summer clothes' which we will bring - but probably only 2/3 additional suitcases/cartons worth.

We've been looking at Three Three Robin, Lincoln Modern, Glentrees and Caribbean at Keppel Bay. Does anyone have any thoughts about these apartments/locations?

If its any use - (i cannot provide a recomendation as yet as we have not actually moved, although i chose them through recomendations ...) we are using Stirlings

From the UK to singa we have been quoted £3,100 door to door (including packing + unpacking) for one whole 20ft container which will do all our furnature for a large 2 bed flat in London. (3 piece suite, 2 beds, desk, dining table + chairs, sideboard clothes, computers, TV and sterio boxes of stuff etc etc.

they recon on a 6 week delivery time and cost includes all import paperwork and bills at the singapore end. Extras include any duty / taxes liable on items shipped and our insurance. (probably an extra £1000 as, having reciently watched the Tricolour washed up on a Dorset beach, i am feeling slightly paranoid)
