Singapore Expats

Today I was offered a nice flat in Sengkang Area, just opposite Rumbia MRT station.

I work in the city, but a daily travel is not inconvenient for me if I could have most of utilities in the area, as a Gym, some language accademy (for improving english and then try mandarin) and so on.

I have read that is a growing neighbourhood. Perhaps any of you living there?

Hi, I believe Rumbia is a LRT station rather than a MRT station. I would suggest that you find a place nearer (within walking distance) to the Sengkang MRT. Traveling time by MRT to the city is around half an hour, which I believe is quite acceptable.

As for utitilies like gym and language classes, I believe what people generally do it to attend them in areas near the town after work, before heading home

Nope, I don't live in Sengkang.

Don't know anyone who does either . . .

So why not get a place closer to office, preferable within walking distance to an MRT station on the East-West line so you'll be able to enjoy not just a shorter ride to work, but an active social life as well . . . think weekends at the beach . . .

Sengkang is one corner of Singapore ..where I think hardly people wanna stay cos of the inconvenience in travelling.

agreed! i hate visiting friends who live there or punggol.

you know - it is going to cost something like 5.00 dollar per day to travel to work and 45 minutes on the LRT and MRT - even by BUS it is not cheaper but it could take you something like 1.30 Hours to get to orchard

you know if you don't mind time and travel money - then you decide what it is best for you ...I went to c a flat in sengkang once but for me it was too far and i work in raffle place!

Finally, I have found a flat very near Bedok MRT. Not so nice, but much more convenient. I will get the keys still in 15 days, but at least, flat-hunting is finished!

How long have you been house-hunting?
How many agents did you use?
I might need to do that soon...hheheh

Company helped me. They arranged a couple of appointments daily, some with agents, some private, so i cant give you a lot of help.

I have been looking for 2 weeks, until i found a not bad HDB flat in company budget.
