Renting furniture

Hi,
I heard that it is possible to rent furniture for a certain periode of time. Does this make sense for a 7-8 month stay? What are the costs?
We are not sure if it is better to take a furnished or partially furnished place + rent furniture.
Even if we take a furnished one, can I ask for a baby bed or are there just regural beds? Maybe I can rent what I need for the baby (bed, dressing table) - how much would this cost? Better to rent or to buy?
