I've been practicing Wu-shu and some Tai Ji Chuan since several years in France and am looking for a good teacher (sifu) in Singapore.

Any advice ?

Hi,

This is very kind, thanks, this can be a solution, however I'm rather in search of a small club where I could practice regularly (if my job time allows it) than a personal trainer.

Is this ex-coach running a club-school in Singapore or retired now ?

u can refer to this website. it's a forum for wushu exponents. they might be able to give u some advice. However, u have to be careful when u choose your teacher in sg. some of them only want to earn money from u. http://www.sgwutan.com/

What's so good about learning taiji?

1) Its excellent for health regardless of age; not just for elderly

2) Its a demanding mental exercise that really challenges
one's mind control over body

3) Its a superb martial art though if one is looking for a quick
fix taiji is out. Taiji would appeal to those that are looking
for a very indepth martial art to study. If you think that its
only for the elderly think again. Even younger people
would have problem trying to learn properly the principles
of taiji properly-certainly not for the impatient and restless

If you want to talk more about taiji as a martial art, join www.sgwutan.com. That's where you'll find me

Probably, it's a little too late in the reply. But, if anyone still interested, feel free to see my insights and opinions on the topic.

1st, 30 years old perhaps is a little old for most martial arts, but not taichi. I started to learn when I am 35 (1 year back) Most martial arts require extensive movements, thus it will be best to start out young when our body are more flexible. However, taichi stress on reflex motion with adoption of physic theory so as to minimize the usage of muscle, and to keep our body in constant relaxation.

Personally, I would recommend Singapore taichi association for starter, as their fee is really cheap, and you can pick up the principles from there and evolve your own taichi.

Alternatively, I be willing to guide anyone interested free of charges. I need someone to push me, or play push hands with me so that I can improve myself. So, I am more than willing to guide anyone who is interested to pick up the skills in exchange for his time. Please note, everyone's taichi is unique in its own self, though the principles within are the same. It requires one to master his own taichi with his own understandings. I can share with you the principles and what I learnt. As one understandings deepened, one will see more application techniques from the same principle. This is what make taichi so profound. However, my taichi techniques may not suit you, as you need to find the techniques that suit yourself.
