Hi there can you give me more details of your Salsa course in Bukit Timah ,,like the duration and fees... and do we need a partner ?

Hi there,

I don't know how it works here in Singapore, but usually you don't need a partner to attend salsa lessons. You will see that trainers prefer a continuous change with who you dance with. The idea is to be able to adapt with a good or a bad partner. As you are a lady, you will just let your partner take control. For men it is more difficult as they have to control the ladies. I guess only in dancing men take the control over ladies

It gives some sort of satisfaction I should admit.

Well we signed up for a trial session at Groove Dance Studio. Class is $10 on Apr 30th. I think its a one hour session . Wnat to join??

I came across the attitude dance studio also. Looks fun. Let me know how it is if you r joining. I may join if i develop an interest for it after the trial session.

I've been going to the beginners salsa lessons at the Bukith Timah CC for 4 weeks now. My class is on Tuesday evening from 7:30 to 8:30pm and you do not need a partner to join. Our teacher does not rotate partners at the moment, probably because there are 2 couples and 2 single women in the class, which means that he has to take turns to dance with them.

The classes run for 8 weeks and then you can choose to continue for another 8 weeks at the same level, move up to the intermediate level (which is on a different day of the week) or stop going. The fee varies from $60 to $80 for 8 sessions depending on the Community Club and whether you are a Passion card member or not.

There are salsa lessons at many other community clubs, so you should be able to find a day and time that suits you.

Hey Roops ..I would love to join you on the 30th but I will be going out of town till 4th May ..and will look into classes once I am back..Does anyone have any videoclips to share on Salsa ?

Its nice to see there are so manyplaces you can learn salsa here.... I lvoe the dance studio i go to $90 for 6 week beginners course at www.jjsalsarengue,com and its right in the centre of town too.... Bonus for me living in Chinatown!!!

Anyway, its real good fun and like the others you can sign up on your own but they will only accept you if there are members of the opposite sex to partner you. there is a sala club near Amara hotel where everyone seems to go and practice which has a live band.....It's really handy that they are round the corner from each other.....

Definitely a good way to learn and even for those who think they have two left feet - its great.... We should all meet up in the club one evening... Although i will wait til I am have at least started the intermediate to give it large on the dance floor!!!

HI, guys

I've taken a salsa course at Bishan CC too. I agree with some of you that you dont need a partener to attend the class. But as my teacher told us and I've seen myself, girls are more than guys in basic classes usually while for the advanced level, on the contrary. So it's better to have a partener to practise it with and go for pubs together. In the pub, you can dance with different persons for more practice. I'm looking for a male partner. it's better that you have some idea of this dance. we can practice and improve it together.
