Hi all!
can you tell me how long you waited for the answer of your EP application? I've read about 3 weeks on the MOM web site. Can it be shorter?

If the EP app is filed online it can be as little as 48 hours, assuming your university is on the "official" list and you have solid work record. Can be as little as a week for hand filed.

Can be much more if your application requires additional review.

thanks Strong Eagle. Can you tell me whether this processing time corresponds to the first application or after having been granted the in-principle approval letter?

I've filed the MOM's tool for self-assessment and the university is listed there. As for the experience field, it's been 10 years already in the same industry. So I hope it's going to be quick. We filed the documents, so I believe the company is going to send it to them.

I was not applying online and I only have A-level qualification, but I got my EP approval in 4 working days in last year.

It takes around one week and a half for me.

is your application recent? That could give me a good idea of the precessing time at the moment. The company's just sent our files to Singapore. So I hope we are going to get the answer as quickly as yours.

I have just gotten my EP in 1 and half week... so with all the valid documents u should be able to get ur EP in a shorter period of time!

P.S. Can anyone tell me tat once i got my EP, how long i got to wait so tat i will be qualified to apply for my PR? Would sincerely want someone's advice and information... Thx![/quote]

my app was submitted on 19th, and it got approved on 2nd. IPA letter took another week.

BTW whats the difference between P1, P2 etc?

Those are the EP types (pass types). It depends on your monthly income and other factors.

According to MoM website:
There are three categories of Employment Pass: P1, P2 and Q Pass. The P Pass is for foreigners seeking professional, managerial or executive and specialist jobs.

P1 Pass – for applicants earning a fixed monthly salary of more than $7,000.
P2 Pass – for applicants earning a fixed monthly salary of more than $3,500 and up to $7,000 and he/she possesses recognised qualifications.
Q Pass – for applicants earning a fixed monthly salary of more than $2,500 and he/she possesses recognised qualifications.

but what's the difference to the pass holder? are there benefits to P1 not given to P2 holders?

But i think there is not too many practical difference.

As Q holder you can not ask for long-term social visit passes for parents, family, .... Both of them can ask for dependant passes.

So I think that really is more a status mark that a difference in your rights.

Any veteran can correct me?

The biggest difference between the P1 & the P2 pass is not the benefits but the qualifications.

With a P1 Pass a recognized degree is not required, for that matter, you don't even need a degree or diploma at all. The P1 is Income Based. As long as you are earning in excess of $7000/mo you will most likely qualify.

With a P2 Pass you have to have a degree, from a Singapore recognized institution. A diploma won't do it. The P2 is both Qualifications & Salary oriented.

The rational behind this is the P1, if being offered over $7K here, must have something on the ball in order to warrant that kind of salary. It that case, the real life training would be worth more than the degree which only indicates theoretical knowledge.

I replied about the benefits jumping_gene was asking for.

I know that different qualifications are required for different employment pass, but couldnt find any big practical different in benefits for a P1 and a P2.
