Last night, I came back at one in the morning with my husband and a friend only to find that the lifts were not working.

This is a daily affair at Bayshore park. I stay on the sixteenth floor, and am healthy, so could climb up to my house, but there were others with tiny children, elderly women, who stayed back to wait for the lifts because they live on the 30th floor and above.

The Bayshore park condominium is very convenient, but for this one problem. Whenever I see a pregnant lady around here, I shudder a bit, because god help her if she goes into labor and has to climb down 30 floors if the lifts stop working!!

There are also loads of people with heart problems, what if one of them has a heart attack?

The owners of the houses do not want to spend the amount needed for repair of the lifts, because most of the owners dont live here and rent out their properties, and it is also a lot of money. Unless all the tenants start protesting in earnest, I guess we will have to suffer.

There seems to be no solution in sight.

I guess somebody has to really suffer(heaven forbid) for people to sit up and pay attention.

Bayshore apartments are expensive, and if you are thinking of staying in one, please reconsider, because you might end up having to climb dozens of flights very day!

Condos with larger percentage of owner residents are usually better as they will make sure everything works to minimise inconvenience. Besides, as residents they will know about the problem first hand and make sure things are fixed.

I agree with you Paul, but Bayshore park was otherwise so good that we decided to rent here. The Bayshore Park lift problem needs to be sorted out, before(heaven forbid) someone suffers an accident.

As a tenant resident, my voice does not count but I am the one suffering the most, because of having signed a two-year lease.

I hope any prospective tenants for Bayshore Park would look into this aspect before paying out a hefty rent.

One of my friends mentioned that a notice has been put up by the mgt committee to sort out the lift problem in May'07 and a newly appointed company will be tasked to look into the repairs asap ... think it's Schindler. I think not all blocks are affected. Furthermore Bayshore Park is still the most spacious and reasonably-priced place to stay along East Coast stretch. Have anyone seen the cable ski at East Coast? My friends and I can just sit there for hours watching it and chill out at the hawker centre nearby.

Well, ruby, the tower I live in is affected....and yes they are trying to sort out the problems, they have been trying for quite a while now.

It would take anything up to a year or more to resolve the problem, because the management had issues with the first company, so they hired a second one(OTIS), which knows nothing about the problems, and nowadays does the repairs based on guesswork, every time the lift breaks down. And now, they are hiring a third one, who I hope will have some clue!!


I am going to host a relative next month, who is medically advised not to climb stairs because of spinal surgery....and I am apprehensive. I have seen pregnant women in the lifts sometimes, and they look apprehensive too.

Bottomline:
When one has climb thirty floors after a long, tiring day, spacious rooms, sea-views, hawker centres and ski ranges dont look so attractive any more.

Ruby, I found that all the taller buildings in Bayshore park have the same problems, lifts do not function for almost two-three days a week. In some it is even worse.

There does not seem to be any solution in sight. The Bayshore Park building was finished in 1986, and if the lifts are not repaired soon, there may be further problems ahead. The owners and residents at Bayshore Park need to get together and find a solution...fast.

I guess you need a majority vote, to have any impact, which means sticking together, get a petition signed up and stand firm, that if the problem isn't resolved in a period of time, then all service charges will not be paid.

The owners of the apartments must be jointly held responsible for the problems, and of course, if the majority are rented out apartments, I would suggest stop paying the rent too!

Yes, always see that Bayshore has their lifts under maintenance. Maybe they're starting to look into the issue more so that's good!

The lift situation has been generally much better since the new maintenance company took over earlier this year. And , at least for the high rise towers, one lift has been completely modernised with the rest to follow next year. So in Diamond tower where I live its pretty good now - no outages for months really.
