Has anyone else noticed the lack of clocks in Singapore?

I don't like wearing a watch all the time as it feels uncomfortable and also it keeps stopping! I usually refer to my mobile phone if I need the correct time when I am out.

But the realisation has crept up on me that clocks are not allowed in public!

Is this a plot like during the war in England when street signs were all covered over to fool the Nazis so they had no idea which city they were bombing?

Is it a plot to make tourists feel hungry when the stall holders urge them inside all day and night to partake of food?

The supermarket? 'Sorry we don't have a clock. Let me check my watch'

The cafe? 'We all use a watch, sorry!'

The buldings around town don't appear to have clocks above them the way they do in London and Sydney.

I wonder why?

Or is it a plot to boost sales of watches?

If I need a suit, a mobile phone or a watch I will never have a problem here.

But if I am looking for something in particular I need, then local knowledge is essential I find.

But that's a subject for another day )

The answer to your observance is easy. This country has the highest incidence myopia in the world. Therefore the average Singaporean cannot see much further than the end of their arms. This explains the local penchant of collecting watches as they cannot see any further than that. This also helps to explain why they walk in to you in a total oblivious state on the street.

There are clocks in MRT stations at least

well the locals here *at least those i know* believe that clock is related to funeral, hence they don't want to receive it as a present.

superstitious i know, but could this be one of the reason?
