Hi there,

I am a newbie in this forum - will be moving to Singapore in june'07 and wonder if there is a family in the same situation with a teen age kid ( we have a 15 yrs old son ) around?
We plan to send our son to Raffles institutions /SAS - and mom will work around Orchard's, any help will be appreciated. Thanks !

Best regards,

MT

We will be in Singapore late June/early July for our 'recon' visit...looking for housing, visiting the campuses of the schools we're applying to for our sons (SAS, UWC, OFS...hopefully there will be some staff there during summer holidays) and getting an idea of what the next two years will look like...

we'll be settling in in late August, and our eldest will be 15 in October...he will be bringing his lacrosse gear (and we're even considering bringing our goal) so if your son is at all interested, we'll have a spare stick or two to practice with...and the 9 year old is a keen lacrosser as well. It's either swimming, lacrosse or electronics for our boys...

no real help here, just thought I'd let you know we're in the same situation :)

Hi Nillah,

That's great! I 'll let my son know about yours - nice to know family in the same 'boat' like us.
Our son-Andrea is a member of US PGA Junior & AJGA, and quite a sport fanatics and I'm sure he'll get along with you sons just fine.
His concern is whether he will like it there..you when you are 15 yrs old-moving away from your friends is the'not soo cool'kind of stuff

Once again, thanks for your response and keep in touch!

Warm regards,

MT

June and July is pretty quiet as far as other expats in Singapore, but once school starts and they make new friends your children will be fine. Good luck and enjoy Singapore!
