Hi,
I heard that if the monthly rental is more than 2500 Dollars the renter does not have a fee for the real estate agent. Enen though we are going to pay much more the real estate agent is still asking or a fee of one month rental (1 year lease). Is this ok? Maybe I was not informed correctly?

That is how I understand it , that below $2500, one month rent as commission and above no fee, but be aware some agents will con you saying its is the norm to charge more.
I was overcharged by my agent and when I checked with her company they said it was between me and the agent and they would have nothing to do with it.
I confonted the agent and said I had found out she was overcharging me and I would only pay the recommended fee.
at this she pointed out that during an SMS message I had agreed her fees and she had the retained the SMS as proof even though the sms said agreed fees and the additional amount was mentioned after the SMS.
In the end I paid her and told her that I would never recommend her to anyone.

Below S$2,500 there's normally a 50:50 split with the landlord.

Above S$2,500 the landlord pays the lot.

Unfortunately, there are agents who will do as described by rob w. Not much consolation to rob but what goes around typically comes around!!!
