found a job but suddenly pregnant

Hi!
I just got a job from my old company but then suddenly found out I am pregnant. How does companies here treat situations like this?
The company is just waiting for my dependents pass to be out so they can submit an LOC for my work. It is a given that I have to tell my "to-be" boss becuase she has just been very nice to me by opening this position when she learned I am moving to Singapore.
Any advice? Thanks!

Firstly, congratulations!
Singapore, unfortunately, unlike UK or EU member states does not have the right to freedom from discrimination.
Neither do we have Equal Pay Rights etc. If you are in Europe then you can surely sue the company for discriminating against you for being pregnant, which i assume you honestly believe to be not, during job application.

Congratulations, having a baby is always good news.
Secondly, in accordance to the labor law in Singapore, you would have to have served a minimum of 180 days (which is 6 months) to qualify for mandatory 12 weeks of maternity leave and salary.
As for your case, you have only just been offered the position. I believe there will be some consideration about the duration from the time you join her company until the point you are set to deliver. Since you said she is nice, I believe you can discuss this with her. Afterall, both of you are women so I guess that will make things alot easier as I believe she will be able to understand your status better.

well as lawyers we're used to championing conflicting lines of arguments, eventhough it conflicts with our own moral values or what we said before in previous cases, but its nothing personal.
It surely is irritating n baffling to non-lawyers but then again we've already sold our souls to the Devil a long time ago!
