Singapore Expats

A while back I looked for a book designer, which was fairly hard but I found 'em in the end... and now it's time to find a web designer, which seems to be even harder because there are just metric pooploads of them in Singapore alone and the Classifieds even have their own section.

So, any personal recommendations? Experience with HTML-level coding (not just FrontPage etc) and open-source based online shopping (eg. osCommerce) would be a plus.

Having a surprisingly hard time finding people with a semblance of a clue... is there some forum/marketplace where I could just post up a description of the project and have it read by the ravenous hordes of IT companies that roam this little red dot?

Elance is a worldwide service, I'd prefer to deal with a local company.

I used a local company (a Brit, actually) that did everything from branding and logo creation to biz cards, letterhead, brochures, and web layout and creation (http://www.catalystprojectsolutions.com). I haven't spoken of him before because it did cost me some cash to go from A to Z... on the other hand, it was great to have single source and the gent has been extremely good at handling my special needs... everything from logos and banners for a golf tournament to specialized printing. This guy is not the gear head... he is a marketeer oriented towards creating your image and he has the tech resources at his disposal to get what you need.

I do website designing including text and graphic content and editing / proofreading; ecommerce; online marketing; marketing collaterals; and even books, though I know that your book project is already completed.

My rates are reasonable. However, I pick and choose my projects, and don't do all jobs.

if one were to hire a full time web designer, roughly how much would that cost in singapore?

Secret sauce, i think it depends on the experience of the web designer. There are students that just graduated that is just starting out doing full time web design. Their rates will be <S$1500 or even S$500 for a website.
If you engaging a company or freelancer with more experience, it may cost you S$3000-S$4000.
Of course its also dependent on the features that you need for your website.

If you are looking for budget web design, its better to get someone to recommend a freelance that they have used before and is satisfied with the service. Else if you are IT savvy, you can try those template base web design.

You can hire a web designer for around S$1800 per month. Can check out the rates on those online job portals.
