Do you know why?

He entered the hotel room. Everything was neat and tidy. The colours used in the room seemed just right. The bedsheet was pale white with blue prints. The couch was leather beige. The walls were painted in several shades of yellow and highlighted in gold. He climbed onto the bed and lay down for a nap.
Something caught his eye. There was a partition door on the wall facing the bed, and on the door was a eyehole. “Weird”

If the woman was looking back at him wouldnt she have to have red eyes.
After all he would be looking into her eyes.
If this is the answer I do not get it.

I would assume it would be because he is looking directly into the eye and seeing the retina which would reflect as red hence the "red-eye" when taking photos where the eyes show red because of light bouncing off the retina?
