Has anyone tried eating at Il Lido? Is it any good?

Very good indeed - one of the few that lives up to the hype.

Have to agree, not at all a bad place, but no way worth the hype.

In fact, to me the only restaurant in Singapore that is worth every dollar it charges, is the new AU PETIT SALUT at Dempsey, more exactly at Harding Road.

This is French cuisine at its very best, with an excellent wine list to accompany the delicious food.

This one is real fine dining, not the bistro type at Chip Bee Gardens.

I enjoyed both the food and the surroundings, however, I have to agree that it's overpriced for what you get compared to some other resturants - Les Amis du Jardin (If you like french) and Graze in Rochester perk, are both good restaurants at a similar price - I'll have to try the French restaurant at Dempsey, haven't done that one before. If you are going to Il Lido, try and reserve a table outside, it is more atmospheric.

I haven't really found any good fancy Italian or French places in Singapore, they all seem to put the emphasis of style over substance, with foie gras, truffles and caviar all over the place... which is probably why I like Sebastiens. It's also run by Les Amis, but it's reasonably priced, not pretentious and has tasty basics like boeuf bourguignonne and a mean range of cheeses and pates (also sold by its deli).

Sebastiens is indeed a great place, the casual ambience adds to the good food (No foie gras in Singapore beats the one at Sebastiens).

No, I haven't, but this thread isn't the only place I've heard good things about it, so it's on the to-do list. Now to think of a good excuse for a splurge...

Ilido, I have been for lunch and it was exactly what I expected for fine dining Italian restaurant. It has a really funky Italian design and the view is amazing.

I was really impressed.

It really depends in what type of food you like.
