Singapore Expats

Greetings!

I am hosting some friends from Europe and I'm thinking aloud as to where are the undiscovered places of interest in Singapore. I'm listing down those that I can think of so if you have any suggestions, feel free to carve it in stone. I think this will be a good reference for other forummers too.

2. Jurong Bird Park
3. Sentosa/Mt Faber
4. Botanic Gardens
5. Clarke/Boat Quay (for the nightlife)
6. Chinatown
7. Geylang (durian + supper)
8. Arab Street
9. Mustafa Centre (shopping)
10. Orchard (shopping)
11. Pulau Ubin
12. Japanese/Chinese Garden
13. Haw Par Villa
14. DHL Balloon - looks kinda crap tho, doesn't it?
15. NEWater Visitors Centre
16. Singapore Discovery Centre
17. Lau Par Sat or Newton
18. Kranji Countryside

East Coast/Marine Parade (not sure what that park is called)

Lau Par Sat

wild rocket / wild oats at mt. emily i love the feta wonton and peach cider and mountain breeze. killer combination. it's next to an art gallery too if that's your thing.

mt. faber is a lot of laughs, bring your own drinks and music or a guitar and hang out under a gazebo. there's a cable car to sentosa as well.

so what's on the discovered list then?

Kranji Country Side - Sungei Belok, Goat Farm, Vegetable Farm, etc

there is also a science center at jurong east if it would interest them

window shopping at my local community shopping centre is my way of relaxing... find bargain items that you don't really need... hehehehe...

13. Haw Par Villa

If you feel tired about having to accomodate your friends, I indeed think a visit to this place would make them pack their stuff and leave instantly.

If you feel tired about having to accomodate your friends, I indeed think a visit to this place would make them pack their stuff and leave instantly.

Hmm, is it really that groteseque a place to visit?

Marina South Pier for dinner
River Cruise (I hear it's not half bad)


About the DHL Balloon - Took my friends for a ride and they seemed to enjoy it. But go at sunset, I think that's the best time.

I just showed a friend from overseas around
I recommend New Asia Bar for sunset. Go around 6pm to grab a window seat.

Bring them to our night life in Singapore We have MOS and Zouk!!!!! Cheers

To call it depressive would be an understatement!

All the clubs have Lady's Nite on Wed. It means complimentary entry + 1 or 2 drinks for free or pay ab 20$ and drink as much as you can till 12 a.m (dif clubs have dif privileges)
I may not recommend Zouk and Mos on Wed nite, acause it's alw too packed with young polytech- and Uni students. But it depends on age of yr visitors. Arena and Attica at CQ for older folks (usually middle-aged expats male and young s'poreans female ), music is kind of R&B and POP.
Just in case yr visitors are models - they can go to Fashion Bar - 5 complimentary drinks and other privileges for them..but you have to present model's card at the entry to get all discounts and drinks.
Insomnia at Chijmes is quiet popular, live band is playing ( but smtimes they sing irritably 10 songs in a row!), and music is a bit outdated, it's kind of 2-3 yrs old POP...seems like they need to employ a good DJ the crowd is usually 25-40 yrs old expats.
At the end there is St Power James Station, where you have a choice btw chinese POP, latina, JAZZ, e.t.c..music.
