Moving from New York City

Hi! My husband and I along with our two sons ages 3 and 1 are moving to Singapore in March from New York City. We have NO IDEA what neighborhood/building we should live in, and a wonderful school for our eldest son is a priority. We do not plan on having a car. We would like to have a full-time nanny/house-cleaner and will need recommendations. We are eager to make friends and be part of a community with many other children and Expats. Can you guys point me in the right direction for any of the above? Thanks so much! We cannot wait to be there -- we have heard wonderful things!

common areas for expats:
holland village, bukit timah, east coast, orchard [town]

These are the areas I can think of. As for the full time nanny - you can look thru the papers for either indonesian/indian/phillipino maids.
There are many friendly people here, netherless there are some nasty ones [which country doesn't?] It's easy to fit in here as they are many kinds of people you will meet. And there is an American Club too... ;)
