Singapore Expats

Hello everyone,

I will be going to Singapore soon on holiday before relocating there a few weeks later. I will need to stay in a budget hotel for a few nights (S$60-80), preferably in a central area like Bugis, Little India, Chinatown, Orchard...

Could you please share any ideas that you may have?

Llyod's Inn has been recommended before...but can't find the link, etc...please do a search.

Other alternatives you may want to check out:

The Elizabeth
York Hotel
The Fragence Hotel chain

That's all at the top of my head.

I really wouldn't say The York or The Elizabeth are budget hotels. The Elizabeth's Corporate Rates are already S$210 per night. The York - about S$150 onwards. Never mind the Rack Rates.

The Fragrance ones or the Hotel 81 chains are uhm.. well look them up.

You could try The Hangout @ Mt. Emily, book online. Or the Prince of Wales. I had some friends who stayed there and it was really nice, The hangout I mean. POW is more of a back packers place.

Another tip, walk into any of the hotels in town, pick up the little brochures they have on display. There's one just for budget hotels. Very handy.

You will find lots of Budget hotels in the areas you mentioned in that brochure.

As a backup solution, does anyone know Penang Hotel and Cactus Hotel (both in Jalan Besar)? A double room costs S$69 in both of them.

It's a good location

Hotel 81 and Fragrance Hotel will give you a budget and comfortable stay. Google search for their website to locate a chain nearer to you.
