We are moving to Singapore in February 2008 and expecting a child in June. Does anyone have useful information regarding doctors/health insurance or cost of having a child in Sg?

Thanks much. :o

Straight forward birth 4.5k ish
C section 6-9k
emergency C Section 9K+
any complictions $$$$$

KKK is much cheaper and just as good so I've heard ...

Insurance, you can limite your risk I believe by buying a insurance to cover costs over about 10k I've heard, normally docters user certain hopitals.

We landed on Oct 7th and had the baby Dec 7th and it was straight forward 4.5k ... I wouldn't recommend the doctor though, didn't take care with the stiches for the wife ..

Jeppo,

How may times have you told somebody "Why don't you take your child to w w w dot k k h dot com dot s g?". :P

If we were to go that route it would be "KKWCH" Kandang Kerbau Women's and Children's Hospital wouldn't it?

From the website you so graciously provided:

WhyKK

Of course new expats cannot be expected to know the history of the Hospital but the local or long time residents all refer to it just as KK. Both of our children were born at KK by the way. Course that was many many years ago before the new hospital was built. Back in those days it didn't matter which hospital in Singapore you went to deliver your child, if you had complications you were transferred to KK. They have the best facilities in Singapore for Women & Children but of course that is only my personal opinion.
