Singapore Expats

can anybody recommend a place for basic dog (and owner) obedience training. I have an adorable but stubborn french bulldog ~10mths old.

Somewhere in central area would be best but not essential..

You can try the German Shephard Club, they run obedience training for all breeds, but it's not centrally located. I know people who have had the trainers come to their residence to work with dog and their trainers. Certainly your vet would have a suggestion?

On the contrary, the dog may calmly decide on its own version of section 377A ie some commands are well and fine for the owner to give, but not necessary to obey.

Try waggies pet care. The trainer has trained French bulldogs before.

Hello everyone! I would like to know if any of you have experience in relocating to Singapore along with your French bulldog. Besides all the paperwork that needs to be issued. Which airlines did you use to transfer your Frenchy? I'm coming from Dubai and cannot locate any airline that is willing to take him as the breed is considered high risk

I believe you will have to convince the authorities that your dog is not your average bulldog... a prohibited breed.

I don't think you ever will...French Bulldogs and all other snub-nose breeds have enough trouble breathing in normal air. In a low-pressure cabin the risk of death is too high for airlines to accept.

OP - I trained with my Pup at Petz Central on Clementi Road. Frankie was excellent with us and his wife is now our preferred groomer too!

If you're not familiar, do some research into "Clicker Training" - start with videos by Kikopup on YouTube to see what is possible.

As StrongEagle alludes, the French Bulldog is a lap-dog, and was bred for that goal. 'High risk' lol, to what, a tennis ball?
So to cut to the point, I think you're dealing with a simple case of mistaken identity. It's not a common breed, and the people you are dealing with are therefore probably not familiar with it. Worse, they're probably hearing/reading 'bulldog' and then simply closing their ears.
Can you ask them what they are using as a reference for the category 'High risk'? And/or provide them with a copy of the banned list that Eagle linked?
What you are facing sounds like a simple misunderstanding, the task is to find where the erroneous hurdle is.

... You don't think that maybe... they're imagining it is in fact a Bulldog from France do you?
I knew a Singaporean in Europe that owns one, and she would not have bought a breed that she could not bring back to SG.

p.s. Interesting point from CG above. 'High risk' in what way, in transit, or as in dangerous?

High Risk of dying due to asphyxiation in transit. All snub-nose breeds are banned from air travel for that very reason.

Some are dangerous dogs, but boxers/pugs/bull dogs fall into the snub-nose gang.

'All terriers'

The others seem to fall under the category of 'snub-nosed' or 'perceived as aggressive'. But that you can bring in an Alsation/German Shepherd (I have a SGn friend who did) but not a Jack Russell or Border Terrier etc is nuts!

It seemed to make sense to check out BA, after all they are supposedly the 'nation of dog lovers'.

Note this is quoting BA policy, but not from the BA site itself...
'Breed Restrictions: No dangerous dogs, Bulldogs or Pugs are permitted. Other snub nosed pets must travel in crates at least 10% larger than normally required.'

Thank you so much to everyone! The 'high risk' I refer is for the transit due to snub-nosed. So far, it seems only Lufthansa can do it but my doggy will have to go until Germany and then to Singapore.....
