Apartment/Contract/Demolition of building

Hi everyone,
I signed a 2-years-contract for my apartment last year in August.
I have now been notified by the current landlord that the new owner will tear down the building and advised that I will have to move out in March 08.
I wonder if I can expect any compensation.
Who can help?

If your contract has Stamp Duty paid then you even have the right to stay through to the end of your lease.
IF you agree even to move, they have to compensate you by paying the removal costs, difference in price to an equivalent
property if higher and let's say "emotional stress" compensation in addition.

Well, but if they really tear the building down, I am not sure whether I still want to stay there until the end of my lease.
No, but thanks for your input - do you think I can even make them pay the agent of my future apartment?

You can make them pay everything, but there may be some negotiation to be had some you are more than a year through the lease meaning they might try to make everything pro-rata on the basis you have less than a year less.
The fact is you have a lease and if you are legal, they can't do anything with you there, even pull the place down.
My belief is, however, that the new owner just wants you out so they can rent at a higher price to somebody else. They get you out, pay some costs then rent out again at twice the price. If you go back a few years from now the place is probably still there!
My old landlord told me my new one wanted to move in since his place just went enbloc but i know where he lives, and i know it didn't so i'm not helping anybody any more....... too much lies.

I think you are fully right because there haven't been any signals yet that they gonna tear down the building. None of the neighbours knows anything etc....
I don't mind moving but I already told them nobody can chase me out until August next year if I don't find an adequate place.
Actually, if it is really true that they are playing this game then it is pretty disgusting isn't it?
