Singapore Expats

Hey folks..i'm moving in Feb 08 and i just found out that there is an indoor snowboard/ski park in SG..wicked!
Anyone here skier or snowboarder?

From what I've heard that park isn't anything to get too excited about. Don't expect too much.

makes sense..but i guess some (fake) snow is better than no snow

when you get here, take me with you...i surf so snowboarding can't be all that hard although I've never tried it...

that's a deal...i want to learn to surf, cant be that hard although i haven't tried it either

GranSport arriving from Switzerland as well in late Jan 08. might be interested joining too although I think the snow might be a bit too sticky??
any insights of quality/temperature?

and yes.... artificial snow is still better than no snow.. at least for an
alpine guy

Sooooooo.... i was googling "snowboarding singapore forum" and i came across this website, among others. I'll be back in singapore this summer and i've been hearing some stuff about an indoor snow city thing? Anybody been there? Is it good? How's the park there? I kinda wanna work on my 1s and 3s (i totally suck lol).

Oh... and where's the closest mountain (and inexpensive) you guys go to snowboard. I'm kinda planning a trip to hotham in aussieland in aug !!! I'm soooo stoked!!! Lift tics are alright, lodging is ok too i think (haven't worked out the math yet). anybody been there??

Alright... i'm gonna go now. we just got over a foot of snow here and i'm gonna hit up the local mountain tomorrow..

so anybody been to snow city yet? Let me know how it goes so i can decide if i wanna bring my gear or not. I'd be due in singapore in the summer for a couple of months.

Snow city is really small, it is basically a nursery slope! I have not been there yet but I know people that have. If you are a learner it would be ok but if you have any skill then I don’t think it if worth it.

I haven't been there myself, but heard from friends and colleagues, that it is not really worth it... it's fun when you have kids and give them the feeling of snow and play around a bit, but if you really want to do some sports...hm.... just don't expect too much I guess. ;o)

If you all end up going, let us know here how it is ;o)

i'm gonna try and hit it up next weekend. my gear arrived last week and i'm inching to shred some snow... (ok i'm no expert hehe but thot it would be cool)
anyway, the way i look at it..some snow is better than no snow...and since they have a 25$ for 4 hr riding thing on sat..y not..i'll let u guys know how it goes..

yeah... i'm not expecting a big old mountain. I'm just wondering about the park. I mean if they have some nice rails and some smalls jumps i can practice my 1s and 3s...itd be sweet
