Hi all, we are planning a trip to Penang from 4th to 6th Jan. We're having some questions and it would be appreciated if you can provide information, references, etc.

1. Is it the right time to travel there during this period? When is the rainy season in Malaysia?

2. Are there any special events or things to do beside the beaches?

3. Is Crown Prince Hotel a good place to stay at? Or do you know any good hotel or resort next to the beach areas with a reasonable price?

4. Is it safe to take a coach at JB to Penang at night, about 9.30pm?

We would be grateful for any contributed information. Thanks in advance :)

Because Airasia has afternoon flight from JB to PEN only, some of them cant take leave on Fri., that's why we decided to take night coach from Sing., then fly back on Sun night.

Go up to the Penang hill (can't remember the actual name) for the cable car ride and a history lesson

There is this amazing Chinese mansion with tours around its premises. It used to belong to this rich Chinese man and the house is built according to the laws of feng shu (which the tour guide will explain to you) You can even see pictures of his family, his many wives and also how the house is built to ensure that the womenfolk in the family were not seen by outsiders. Now, it is a boutique hotel.

Food. Penang is famous for its street hawkers.

I would recommend Shangri La. Fabulous view of the sea. You can stay at the swimming pool facing the sea and just spend a lazy afternoon.
