Hi,
Is anyone aware of good institutions that teach courses in Music production and arrangement in SG? Ideally a part time course where you get to learn the techniques of song writing, arranging music, editing, Mixing etc.
Are these full time / part time? And what are the options like having completed them? Im tired of the software industry and am thinking if I should switch to where my heart and passion is before its too late.

Thanks.

Hi prkravi,
I am no expert in the area you asked about however what caught my attention is your desire to have a change of career, to something that you feel you're passionate about - music industry.

I am not sure if you've seriously considered it but you mentioned that you are sick of the software industry or rather what you are doing now. Perhaps get an idea why you are tired of it, are you maybe just sick of the job, company, industry or even the environment you're in? Maybe it's only some aspects of the job that you don't enjoy? Get a clear idea of what it is that'd triggered this. If you are able to consult an expert or specialist about your career or to put your goals, career into perspective again, all the better.

It would be wise to do a course part time whilst keeping your job that pays the bills, unless of course if money is no concern. For an industry as volatile and competitive as music/entertainment industry, be prepared for periods when you'll probably earn very little if anything at all. And you would probably have to start from the entry level? Alot of networking may be required in that industry as with most industries nowadays.

After the shower of cold water there, if you are sure and think you can, then go for your dreams! Just take a step at a time.

Munbeans,
Yes got your point, I didnt mean to say that im quitting tomorrow and starting a new leaf over! Yep it is required to be able to have a firm footing in what gives you Dollars and then if you are capable enough in your hobby / passion look for a switch.
Thanks anyway! :D
