Singapore Expats

Hi does anyone know where I can put my maid for some part time classes?

Example,cooking and learning English classes. I am looking for something reasonable priced.

My maid occassionally attends courses at the local community centres. Such things as healthy cooking. Most churches or mosques provide english language classes and these are free. The cooking class is also free.

i dont have a maid as yet, so not sure if it is any good, but its worth a shot. I have seen it advertised in a few magazines.

Having a maid is a blessing to me I am a working mother of 4. I couldnt do it if not for the maid. Of course they live with you so its different. But if she is good it all works well. So if you are considering it I would say go for it! Its really difficult to get live out maids here and way more expensive. Oh yeah, i saw some of your other posts that you are from Oz, so am I. Which part did you come from?

Blimey I don't know how you do the working mother thing. I did it inbetween my firsborn and the twins, and it was hard enough juggling one child and working.

I am from Rockhampton...Queensland! The only way I survive is by the good graces of an incredible maid! I really wouldnt be able to do it if I didnt trust her completely to take care of everything. I know what its like having a bad one also because this is not my first. It's still not easy cause you dont get to be really involved like you would like to, but its not possible to live in Singapore and not work. My husband is local and we are really living here full time so it takes both of us working to make things work. Especially if you want the good life! Nice house, car etc. How are you finding your time here so far??

My helper has been attending classes there since last year. She did her english there and this year she's doing computer and english level 2.

HI Missymei,, thanks for the website. It was informative but sadly either they had no vacancy or it is too far from my place.

Its getting really crazy thinking that there is hardly any affordable place that I can enrol my maid in to learn English.

I have tried at the community centres.However, I am told that because most of the students are mainly Chinese housewives.. thus the courses are conducted in Mandarin as well.

Where's your maid from? If she's Indonesian, the Indonesian Embassy has courses (2 sundays a month) where they are taught English and other skills for free. If she's another nationality, try her embassy and see if they offer anything like that or can recommend a place.

Hi, I recently sent my maid to a cooking class held by an expat lady - great food & she learn't alot - have a look at expat kitchen!
