Singapore Expats

Would like to gather those who are facing difficulties in buying shoes in Singapore. Please share your shoe shopping tips. I wear size 9/40, find it frustrating to buy shoes here, esp covered shoes.
Sometimes, I would just walk into a shop and ask if there are shoes my size to avoid disappointment after browsing then drooling over shoes I can't fit.
Additional issue, I am tall, only low heele or flats are for me. There goes the already few choices for me.
Wonder how big is the big foot community here, I would say those wearing shoe size 9 and above.
Found some online shoe shops that sell big size shoes up to size 15. Has anyone bought shoes online? Experience to share? Do you custom made your shoes?

Is that a US size 9? I think it is, if it's a 40, which is a UK 6.5-7 I believe.

I'm usually a 40 and, whilst choice is limited, I do manage. You could try Tangs department store - as well as the Studio and usual ranges they have a slightly more upmarket section with a few European brands. Also a place in Tanglin Mall called Ziegler that caters to the big-footed European woman.

If all else fails, there's always Birkenstock.

There is a man in International Plaza that does custom-made. I haven't used him but I know somebody that has had salsa shoes made there.

I am a US10.5 to be precise. These are the shops I go to look for my shoes, limited selection of big shoes though.
Pedalworks, Charles & Keith carry up to 41, I can fit into the casual, open toes ones.
Marks & Spencer, boring but can get covered shoes. You can try Robinson.
Disappointed Ninewest don't carry big size here.
I am tempted to buy shoes online too( saw some US sites) but not comfortable not being able to try on. Shipping cost adds up quite a bit on the cost.

I am looking for dressy ones with low heels. Really tempted to shop online. There are so many nice selection in some online shops. I am confused by the shoes sizing. I am US 9, EURO40, how about UK and AUS size. THere are so many variations online. That is one of the reasons I am hesitant in getting shoes online.
Local US and Euro sizing are not true to international brand ones.

Do try Ziegler (or is it Zeigler?) in Tanglin Mall. Most shoes are quite dressy with various heels.

I can't imagine buying shoes online for the reasons you mention. I have 39-41 in my closet. (I don't even buy clothes that way.)

I wonder if On Pedder in Takashimaya stocks larger sizes? Damned expensive, however.

Was looking in the PLUS SIZE fashion thread on the last few pages.. Some of the girls were talking about larger shoe sizes.

i am also finding trouble getting shoes in singapore... my shoe size is 16US. I Always have to wait for my cousin to buy for me footwear when she visits from Germany once in every 2 years... if anybody has many shops dat might possiby sell my size plz tell me. It'll be greatly appreciated.

If anybody wants it, I can ask my big-footed male friend for the address of the place he uses to get shoes made in Bangkok. Just post again.

A cheaper alternative to buy big foot shoes will be at Trendy Zone, located at far east level 4.

Their Shoes have up to Size 42 which could fit Size40/9.

Any suggestion of the hidden hunts really help in expanding our choices.
Tried shoe shopping today, realised I am size 10/41 for covered shoes, failed miserably in almost all stores. Managed to get 2 pairs in Robinson, they imported International brands. BTW.. It's having sales!
Have any one bought shoes online? Wan to know how much the extra cost can add up to. Eyeing on French Soles, cute ballet flats. But would like to be assured of the comfort it claims to justify the cost. Anyone got the flats?

Believe me, being a guy with size 12-13 (46-47 european) I have been hunting shoes since I got here. I always manage to find some tho, but it coulda been more!

My husbands's shoe size is 14. It's near impossible for him to get a pair of shoes anywhere in the world. I know because I was a flight attendant. Shopping for his shoes was not an easy task.

I have a size 41 and used to be in real trouble finding shoes in my size.
here are the places I ve been able to find shoes

1) Marks & Spencer
2) Bata, the branch at Peninsula Plaza had size 41 for almost all the models (cheap but mostly poor quality)
3) shop at level 2 suntec city (sorry the name just slipped my mind),
small shop with nice lady importing very comfortable leather shoes from Germany
4) a lot of places for sport shoes, sneakers

I think the name of the shoe store at Suntec selling comfy German shoes is Comfort Shoehaus. It is opposite Samsonite on Level 2.
