Singapore Expats

Ahoy there,

Where do I start? I am moving to Singapore for work in March and would like to make some friends. I’m 24, born and brought up in the UK, of East Asian origins. Most of my immediate family live in London but the rest of my family live all round the world. I speak English, some Canto and a little Mando, I have intentions to learn Malay.

Things I like:
- Fresh fruit
- Ice cream
- Peanut butter kit kats
- Learning to cycle
- Climbing walls
- Animals
- Baking
- Films
- ...

Things I dislike:
- Very loud people
- Celebrity
- Extremely hot weather
- Liquorice
- Dirty fingernails

So, would you like to try being friends?

You will be expecting an extreme hot weather here in singapore all year round. Sometimes can be wet.
Anyways, you intend to learn malay? - an easy language to pick up.

You don't like hot weather but yet you have moved to Singapore? Hmm...anyways, Friday Night Drinking Clubs (FNDC) is a great place to meet expats from all over the world. Check the FDNC thread under the Forum.

Hi Esme - C and I are also newbies but Singapore has been like a second home to us for the past couple of years. Happy to help out with any questions etc., catch up for coffee/drinks etc.

i moved here 3 weeks ago from boston so trying to get my way around this city as well. dont hesitate to ping me if you have any questions abt settling in...

regarding the weather...(and coming from 30*F to 85*F) i can tell you this much... u'll get used to it the first week was pretty bad for me especially the humidity but after 3, i'm fairly used to it...

Hello All! Really lovely to see your replies.

Arrived today, it's humid but it's pretty nice. I'm staying near orchard this week and working near Raffles Link. Anyone free to meet up for tea or after work this week? (Bear in mind that I don't know where anything is so will take me a while to find it.)

Adding to my list, I'm 24/f not very keen on drinking and a bit poor for shopping, but very keen on exploring the place.
