Advice needed for new startup cafe

Hi,
Need some advices and guidances here. I am thinking of starting a cafe soon and there are several issues and questions that I need help:-
1. If I am not mistaken, the name of the cafe doesn't have to be the same name as your registered business, am I right? If yes, then where should we go to check if there are any other places that have the same name? Any regulations or restrictions to naming the cafe?
2. I am thinking of buying 2nd hand equipment and furniture to save cost, anybody has contacts on where to get 2nd hand stuff? I need to get a freezer, fridge, cashier, an ice-making machine and outdoor coffee tables and chairs. I found one, which is Ah Seng Stainless Steel Pte Ltd (doesn't have furniture), but I think I need to shop around to compare the prices. Appreciate if you can share the contacts.
3. Anybody knows where to get the signs done? Do we need to provide them with the pictures or do they usually have samples for us to choose?
Appreciate any form of constructive feedbacks or suggestions. Thank you.

Do get back here and write the name and address of your shop. And I'd check it out. Just make sure you have free wifi and good coffee.

I'll be the second customer (after familyof5). Or should I say, the sixth customer?

It's going to be a full house, so why not call it the singapore Expats Coffe lounge!

Everyone will be able to surf the forum free in stead of working and drink, good coffee all day, don't forget the fresh cream cakes and daughnuts

Tha's not a bad idea in fact...there are many expats in Sing, and they all like to socialise, i guess! Though location maybe expensive, you may have to overcharge on the coffee, they can afford it! While us locals get ration cards eh

HI
1.
For signboard
you can try to call up botak sign, it is at highland centre at the end of yio chu kang road at serangoon area
not too sure if they do sign board, but they are the cheapest printing firm i have seen.
2.
If you need fresh cream, jam, ice cream, really very fragrant butter, Strudel like skin which you can use to make curry puff, hot roll etc, up to your imagintion, think they also got other stuffs too
You can try to call up Amex Food product, 62826316.
they are very old school type of biz, been around for more than 30 years
You can call for a appointment w the boss to check out what they have. My friend is getting the butter and the "strudel" skin from them.
I don't like pineaple tart but the one my friend make from the butter is delicious, my family like clear out the tug in a few days
The boss is abit hard of hearing so you got to be patient if you are talking to him over the phone, but in person, conversation is okay
else talk to the clerk, she got better hearing,
else you can contact me instead.
hope this is of some help

Thanks for all the support

However, I might have to disappoint some of you as my cafe is more towards the traditional coffee and toast...not exactly the same as Starbuck...
For those who are love to have good coffee, maybe you can try Highlander Coffee across Singapore General Hospital. I have attended a coffee Barista workshop there and I personally think that the owners are geniune coffee lovers and therefore they are pretty strict with QC

I love traditional coffee and toast. I suggest you set up in the City area where working class are too busy for dine in breakfast. A quick and convenient stop to buy your traditional coffee and toast will be prefect.
Cheers with traditional coffee!
