Singapore Expats

Hi guys,

I was just wondering, would knowing how to speak mandarin or Malay/Indonesian give an advantage for an applicant over those who cannot? Or is English the only thing employers look for?

English and Mandarin are the two magic words here. With fluency in both and the relevant experience/skillset you are "In like Flint!"

yeah, English+Chinese is good enough. A third language is always an advantage

At the moment I am able to speak fluent english, very good Indonesian/Malay and I can speak french quite well also... in your opinion do you guys think I should still try to learn mandarin or would this be good enough for most employers?

Very few Frenchmen here. If you are planning on working in Indonesia (primarily Indonesian) or Malaysia (primarily Malay) you should be fine. But in Singapore (primarily Chinese) ...................

even carrefour in singapore dont speak french!
