Hi,
Im transferring my HSBC bank account from UK to Singapore but have heard that HSBC customers are charged for using other ATMs or can't use other ATMs at all in some cases. Can anyone shed any light on it and do you know what the charges are?
Thanks.

dont quite understand what you are trying to do. why do you need to transfer your bank account from UK to singapore? just keep your hsbc in UK and open another bank in singapore.
unfortunately banks in singapore are not linked together, therefore you cant use other bank's ATM. i think the bank that has the most ATM is DBS/POSB.

Not sure what Durain means, but I use my UOB card at HSBC atms all the time. There is a charge if you use it more than a couple of times a month, but other than that I've never had any problems.

Alot of the supermarkets have a cash back scheme for your hsbc card, just use the check out till as an ATM

Actually, HSBC along with a few other foreign banks share a network of ATM throughout Singapore where cash can be removed FoC.
I think it's a group of five like StanChart, Maybank, ABN and Maybank but i could be wrong on those exactly. Money can be taken out of any other machine outside the "5" that has a "Cirrus" logo but this does involve a fee.

If you have a Singapore HSBC account you can do cash withdrawals at Cold Storage and other places when shopping and also at the banks that ScoobyDoes mentioned, but those ATMS are not as common as the main Singapore banks.
HSBC cards won't work at all now with the POSB, DBS, UOB machines, they used to but it stopped a while ago.

Cards should work in any machine showing the "PLUS" or "Cirrus" logo deepnding on which card you have.
But this is why i have both the HSBC and UOB accounts here....... UOB for local transactions and access to ATM's etc. but HSBC for sending money overseas to my other HSBC accounts.

Just bear in mind that HSBC cards can only be used in atm5 or HSBC's own ATMS. The EFTPOS info is correct - CS etc you can take money out.
HSBC's ATM's are a bit hard to find, though.
