Hi to all, I am new here and I wish to ask a couple of questions to those who are experienced or had gone through the cadet pilot interview.

I've surf through various threads and there were debates regarding eyesight. When I applied for the position as a cadet pilot, there was a section asking me for my eyesight and I wrote down that my right eye is 500 degrees (myopic) and left eye is 450 degrees. I wasn't confident that my application would get through but the next day, I recieved an email requesting for my reply to confirm an interview. I am not familiar with the terms of 6/60, may I ask how much in degrees is that? I've searched the net and failed to find anything that would satisfy my question.

Secondly, how many rounds of interviews are there in the entire process and what are the things that I need to watch out for? Anyone with experience care to share some tips or provide some direction so that I can be more prepared for it? Or anyone can throw me a couple of sample questions that you think they would ask so I can get a feel of how it would be? Thanks.

1) written (MCQ) which onli test your character..

2) computer (MCQ) some maths, and aircraft instruments and aircraft knowledge, eg, u r given a pic of an altimeter, and they will ask u what is your present height..

3) computer game which consist of a joystick and foot paddle.. there will be a dot on the computer screen (simulating an aircraft) and you will have to keep the dot in the center of the screen.

4) Medical test

Before all these tests, there will be an interview. They will ask you to tell them more about yourself, etc and you will have to be confident. If u have astig, 99% is out unless you are really good in all the tests.

If you're within limits, they'll probably take you in subject to the same interview standards as everyone else. If you're not within limits, you're rejected. There isn't this 99% thing.

Anyway, don't worry about the computer test, you don't have to do fantastically well. Many people who think they screwed it up still managed to get through.

The face to face interviews are much more important. The initial one is just 2 people interviewing you. But this stage has the most attrition. The final interview probably has anything from 4-8 people in the panel interviewing you.

Questions are pretty much what you'd expect. Some basic knowledge of piston engines or jet engines, theory of flight, stuff about SIA, general knowledge etc etc. Impt thing to remember is that they don't expect you to know everything. If you don't know, admit it, and tell them you will go find out. Be humble.

PM me once you get enough posts, and I'll give you more info. In the meantime, check with a doctor if your eyes meet the minimum requirement in the 1st place.

hi there, seems you have went through the selection process. how do i go for the eye test? is it available at any of the family clinics? after the final interview, do there sign the contract with you or still have to go through a test similiar to air grading? Thank and appreciated
