Singapore Expats

Hey there,

I love boating but since I will not be here for long... does anyone know if there is a boat coownership broker in Singapore? I dont want to spurlge on a whole boat myself. ;p

ok ok... I googled for "boat coownership" and found a company in Singapore that offers this... the rest are from Europe and Americas.

if anyone got any other referrals, please post here... I am dying to get to the sea. *cheaply*

even if you would find a broker or a boat for rent,
you still need to have
a PPCDL [powered pleasure craft license] before you can go out to the waters around Singapore. Since Singapore don't recognise any foreign license!!!!

If you plan to follow the course, [ if you really want to go out on the water] than this would be the first step to take. After that there are still some possibilities to rent a boat.

Oh. darn. I thought it would be the same like a driver's license.

sorry it took so long, but was quite busy.

Since i just passed for the PPCDL practical test on 31 may, i can tell you its not so easy.
Now to start you would need to take some lessons wich are about 350SGD, after that you can take the theoretical test wich will cost you 22 SGD, you will have 30 questions on computer class, and you need 26 right to pass, onces you passed you can subscribe for the practical test cost wich you have to do within 2 years.

I have gotten my license sometime ago but not yet much of a chance to take a boat out to the sea. If anyone need a diver would like to be one.

The test for the license can be quite tricky, need a lot of luck too.

Do you have a boat or do you think of buying a boat?

Actually instead of owning a boat which comes with many fees like berthing, petrol and installment payments, why not just charter one for the occasional urge? You can get service/drivers without the hassle of having to sell your yacht when you leave the country. Don't even have to pass the PPCDL test.

It is unlike buying a car which you will use very often compared to a boat. There is a company Beaufort Five which might fulfill your needs. You can google them for the website.
