Ladies!

I'm in desperate need for help. I just got a call last night from a good friend of mine (Getting married on 27th Sept 2008) that she needs ME to be the leading bridesmaid! I'm panicking right now because I've never been a bridesmaid and horrors-of-all-horrors, I have no dress. I've been given guidelines on the dress code:-

1) Absolutely no black dress - All my dresses are in black!
2) She's wearing maroon/purplish dress for her wedding dinner - so we can't clash with that.
3) I have to be there for the wedding dinner AND the customary morning reception where the groom picks the bride up.

I need ALL YOUR GOOD RECOMMENDATIONS to a superb tailor as I need to have 2 dresses made for the dinner and morning reception. Adding more problems is the fact that I've NEVER WORN any colors other than Black or Dark Brown for my dresses. What more when I'm not exactly the slimmest of all ladies and I sincerely doubt that there is a store that carries nice halter-neck dresses that will fit me.

So pleassseeee help me! I haven't thought of what dress to make but I'm definitely looking at halter neck, if not tube dress (the latter might be out considering i have big arms/shoulders). I can also buy online from http://www.edressme.com/ but I don't want a situation where it wont fit me when it arrives.

my husband has had some suits made at ascott tailors in far east plaza. sanjay there is friendly and we've picked up some good bargains with a bit of haggling.

saying that i picked up my b-maid dresses from daniel yam in wisma atria. know they have branches elsewhere too. my b-maids wore white silk halter neck dresses and they were really reasonable at $99 each.

as for colours, white can sometimes be a no-no for weddings at the bride's request (i didn't mind!) if you can't go for black, i'd suggest a grey/silver or a midnight blue perhaps?

I would suggest you have it customized maybe, the one which is recommended by BaileyFamily. Being a big girl myself, I totally understand your concerns. I would suggest getting dress tailormade. If you have an idea, preferrably even a picture of what you want, then you can get something that fits your body type perfectly.

There are a couple of good tailors around but personally, I've tried Mohan's in Far East Plaza. It's a little more expensive than others but the workmanship is good and they gladly made any adjustments that I wanted. All the best!

I have personally made suits from them. Their workmanship was excellent and they provide good services. You should try them too.

Sync - do you have the time/inclination to hop up to Hoi Anh in VN?

Can recommend some places there, and by the time you have a lovely weekend away, you can also get everything made on the spot.

Try Mohan's. They are pretty reasonable. If you give them a budget they can definitely work something out for you. They'rs on the second level, Far East Plaza

I agree, I've been to Mohan's couple of times myself, and very satisfide with their work! I've been to many different tailors around, but prefer to go back to Mohan's and would recommend anyone to go there.
